When David and I first moved to Idaho last August we lived at a friends house in Shelley. While there we went to Spud day, the towns big potato festival. We had so much fun we wanted to come back again this year. The festival took place this week and we we more then a little disappointed. Two friends and I went to the
"Miss Russet" pageant for the high school girls. When we got there it cost $8 to get in! On the web site it didn't have a fee to get in. Well we weren't going to pay $8 for it so we came home:(
Today was the big festival in Shelley. We skipped the parade b/c it was raining a bit but arrived to have our free baked potato, we looked at the booths and vendors. Then we went into IF to waist some time until the spud tug at 3:00.
The spud tug is why we really went. It is a tug-of-war challenge that is held over a pit of mashed potatoes! Miss Russet even has to taste them and declare them perfect before the game begins. David had been wanting to do this for a year. Well two of his teammates didn't show up, and it started to pour. Arora was sleeping so I was in the car with her but Dave and a friend were outside and got soaked in a matter of 5 minutes. So we left with nothing to say about the festival after all.

aww that stinks. We totally had plans for a road trip to SLC but the weather of thunderstorms and 25 mi winds killed then. Too bad the spud thing didn't work out, but at least Arora was cuter then ever.
Oh Spud Day! I grew up in Firth so we always went to Spud Day. In fact, my family was there today. Nothing like a good baked potato! Okay, now I am missing Idaho.
The first picture of Arora looking up at the camera is so adorable - please post it on Polly's family website! Sure do miss you guys...
That tug sounds great! Especially because Ms. Russet has to declare the potatoes to be perfect! haha!
Sounds like it would have been a blast if it worked out. Bummer! Your little girl sure is adorable!
Arora is getting so big! We miss you guys. We hosted the family dinner here last night and we played communism. I know this will make you homesick but we miss you more. Come home soon. Love ya
Bummer. It NEVER rains on Spud Day. LOL. We still talk about the spud tug John was in with my BILs. Too bad David couldn't do it.
