#3

Arora has yet another cold this is the third one this year. yup in 2009 alone she as been sick 3 times. What a pain. i feel so bad for her but there is not much we can do. she has her pooh bear humidifier on full blast and her room feels like it is the jungle. She is up crying right now and nothing I am doing is helping in the least so now I am just hoping she falls asleep soon. Last night she was up about every hour, she s just so stuffed. We use the little noses stuff but it only helps temporarily. I wanted to go to bed an hour ago but I simply can not sleep when she is crying. And David is still up doing homework on the computer next to me so... here I am blogging.
Arora is learning so much she can point to eyes nose mouth and hair when you say them. She also learned the sign for thank you today. I will try and get a picture of her signing soon it is just so cute. Also she officially has 6 teeth now: 2 bottom and 4 top. Which also means she is biting me... ouch! I have been thinking more and more about weaning but don't want to rush it and don't really know where to start with her. Maybe when she gets over this cold I will thing about it more.
David is doing so good is school and applied for a really good internship opportunity for the summer. So we will see what comes of that. i am still enjoying school and going to the gym most days around 6 am.
Ah I think she is quiet Good Night

Yuck, another cold? You might want to try putting her in the shower with you and letting it get really steamy. That'll help her nose and chest congestion if she has any. I don't miss the biting and nursing :)
Although I do miss nursing a bit. We just cut down our nursing sessions and Rowan did awesome with a sippy. He's been weaned over a month now :( You'll know what's best for the two of you.

I am sorry to hear that Arora has a cold. I hope she gets better soon. Nursing is fun and nice but weaning is also nice. We had to wean matthew cold turkey because I got sick. But he was already 15 months and we were working on it anyway. Your friend is right is the best for the two of you after he was weaned he slept better and our relationship changed for the better. They really do not need to be nursed after one anyway Good luck with cold.

Holly, you are a wonderful mama. I'm so sorry for both of you (and David!) that Arora is sick again. But just think - with every cold, she has one more immunity taken care of, and this will probably be the last one for a while.

As for the nursing/weaning - you are so good at communicating with Arora, that I'm sure the two of you will figure out what is best. When my kids used to be in that biting phase, I would nurse them with a finger (from my free hand) close by their mouths. I got to where I could tell when they were about to bite - I think they get a pang in their gums or something - and I would quickly stick my finger in, so that would bite that instead of my nipple. They got the message fairly quickly, as I recall.

I don't agree that babies don't need to nurse after a year (sorry Steph!). I depends on the child. It's a great comfort, perfect nutrition, and great for their still-developing immune system. You just have to do what feels right for the two of you. Good luck with the biting, though. I think I will try Kathy's advice if Michael ever starts doing that.
