Kids Shoes
Kids grow fast, which means buying new shoes often. We have had some hand-me-down shoes, but I have read that, those are not very good for growing feet. I hate spending a fortune for new shoes every 6 months. We have bought Arora shoes from, Payless, K-Mart and Walmart, (the only places here in Rexburg). Each pair of shoes has been worn out,not out grown. So end up buying more shoes. I have decided I just nee to invest in some good quality shoes. Where do you get your kids shoes?
These are from a cute collection a friend recommended. You can see the shop here See Kai Run.

We have always pretty much gone the hand-me-down route, but our kids thrash them, so they're usually not suitable for another pair of feet. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Hey Holly. I know See Kai Run is a good brand. How do I know? That's what all my super rich kid toddlers wore when I taught preschool. I love their style of shoes too, although they can be spendy. I've also heard good things about Stride Rite. If you want to get a good deal on some name-brand shoes, I suggest signing up for the daily e-mails from the website "Baby Steals."

Every weekday they post a "steal"--a great deal on super over-priced name brand stuff. A lot of the stuff that comes through on there is just totally unnecessary stuff, but every now and then they post some pretty good deals on name brand shoes. I know I've seen some deals on See Kai Run and baby Robeez shoes on there before. Other than that I have no advice for you since we haven't yet bought a pair of shoes for the big O. :)
Hey! You know what I just remembered Holly? When I worked at Sears in the footwear department we had this program that parents could be part of that let them return children's shoes if they wear out before the child grows out of them. We should see if they still have that program. I think it was free!
I can't remember if there is a DI in rexburg or not? (that just tells you how old I am)Anyway we have purchased some wonderful shoes there. Just a couple of weeks ago I bought Jason some Doc martin's for 4.00 they look almost brand new, and we bought two pair of rain boats like 3-4 bucks each. We wash shoes in the washer machine or we spray the inside with lysol and use the wipes from costco to clean them out to get rid of all those wonderful germs. I use tell myself I would never buy shoes there, but after watching the Duggars I figure if they can do so can I and I only have three boys. It might help. Wow this is super long sorry.
That is a good idea Steph, the problem is the DI here is very picked over. There are so many poor students out here I have rarely been able to find good quality kids stuff there.
Buy the good shoes. I was just thinking yesterday how it would have been worth it to spend the $30-40 on a good pair of shoes. Now, aside from his soft-soled shoes, he has two pair of cheap shoes. Why buy two pairs of cheap shoes when you can buy one good quality pair for about the same price? I hear lots of good things about Robeez and See Kai Run.
Thank goodness you will be moving back here in december. I think the di here is really nice we always find name brand things for less. I sound like a commercial. I was also going to tell you about Ross. Ellie told us about it and we purchased some wonderful shoes there. Sketchers for 5.00. Maybe craigslist or ebay too.
Wow Lisa! 30-40 for shoes for a one year old. To me that sounds crazy. I have never spent more than 30.00 on a pair of shoes for Jason and our shoes have lasted for a long time. I have never had to purchase shoes for my younger boys. I think if you can get a good pair of shoes for less you should. We purchased a pair of QuickSilver shoes for Jason at Ross for 12.99 they still look brand new.
We bought a pair of ... I think they were Jack and Jill? They were on Babes and Kids, but honestly, they wore out too even though they were supposed to be better quality. We got them at baby boutique in I.F. (Have you been there, they have adorable but ridiculously expensive stuff) I think the shoes are sooooo cute on See Kai Run, I look all the time.. but it is sooo spendy. One time they were having a GREAT sale though, but all the ones I liked were out in Mady's size. But yeah... you can sign up for their email and they'll let you know about deals.
I go to Ross for quality cheap shoes. I'm not a big fan of Walmart when it comes to shoes and clothes. It's a waste of money. I also bought a "like new" Doc martens church shoes for Caleb for 2 bucks! Talk about steal:) I agree with you Steph.
GAP kids shoes are adorable and good quality.
Well we checked out Sears yesterday. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything that worked for Arora.
I actually got to try a pair on the See Kai Run infant shoes on Michael once and they were the most perfect shoes ever. But I ended up going with the Target brand of the Robeez. Robeez has treads shoes for older toddlers. I've never once seen a pair of shoes I would buy for Michael at Ross, Goodwill, or any other second hand store.
Stephanie: we bought a $7 pair of shoes for Michael that always came off, a $15 pair that he doesn't like to wear because they aren't comfortable enough (and harder for him to walk in), and then I bought the soft-soled shoes for $13. That's over $30 on shoes! If I just bought the ones I wanted in the first place, he could be wearing some pretty nice shoes right now! (I just didn't want to spend the money.) I just haven't found them cheaper yet. Maybe Craigslist is a good place to look?
Hey Holly! I stumbled on your blog through Facebook. :) I usually buy my kids shoes at Famous Footwear. I'm not sure if they have those near you or not. They are almost always having a BOGO 1/2 off sale. That way I can buy shoes, and get the kids half off. The have name brand stuff there too. Hope you all are doing well. Your daughter is adorable.
I hear you. I feel like I am always turning around and buying new shoes for my kids. But I have found some great quality shoes for kids here.
Personally, I think Stride Right shoes are worth the price. The kids don't wear them out, and they have wide and narrow sizes in almost all their styles. If you can catch a sale, they oftentimes have them for half off, or boy on and get one half off. I think you can become a fan on facebook and it will tell you when the sales are.
